Lincomycin + Neomycin

Dose and dosage

Poultry

Lincomycin:
25-50 mg/kg PO q12h

Neomycine:

10 mg/kg PO q8-12h


Applications: Necrotic Enteritis, Colibacillosis, salmonellosis, Fowl Cholera, Mycoplasmosis, Ophthalmitis, Arthritis

 Lincomycin is a lincosamide antibiotic. It irreversibly binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria. Neomycin is a broad spectrum bactericidal aminoglycoside antibiotic. It irreversibly binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria. Thus both Lincomycin & Neomycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. 

 With medicine: Should not be used with Erythromycin, Kaolin & oral Penicillin. 

With food & others: Absorption is reduced in the presence of food. 

 Common: No side effects are observed when mentioned dosage regimen is followed correctly. 

Rare: Ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity, severe diarrhea, inflammation & intestinal malabsorption. 

Medicated drinking water should be replaced every 24 hours. Do not use in horse, ruminant & rabbit. Chronic use of oral aminoglycosides may result in bacterial or fungal superinfections. Aminoglycosides are eliminated through renal mechanism, so caution should be taken during using in neonatal & geriatric animals. (product manual of Nimocin Vet Plus)

 Poultry: Meat- 0 (zero) day. Egg- Egg must not be consumed up to 3 days after administration of this medicine.
